Text Box: Susan Edgmon

My interest in painting started in 1996, when I took a watercolor class at a local art center. By the second painting, I knew art was going to be my destiny. I consider my style to be “realistic with a flair” using primarily watercolors and pastels as my medium. In addition, I also paint dramatic flowers on canvas using acrylic and oil in a larger-than-life scale (up to 48” X 76”). My subjects include all things in nature such as flowers, animals, landscapes and people.
Painting has brought an acute awareness of the joy and wonderful beauty that is all around us everyday, no matter the weather or the season. You don’t need a large landscape to appreciate the beauty in the world; you can find it in an area as small as a single flower. If after viewing my art, I get one person to take a moment to look at their surroundings a little closer than they would have otherwise, then I feel that I have been successful in achieving my artistic goals.
In June of 1998, I had a solo art show at Sager Creek Art Center in Siloam Springs, AR. The title of the show was “The Development of a New Artist.” I have participated in and won awards in several local, regional & national competitive art exhibitions. In 1999, I had a solo exhibit and in 2002, I exhibited with another artist in a two-person show. In September 2004, I participated with two other artists in a show. Every year I have an art exhibit with my students. We had 35 students in the 2007 show. The Searcy Art Council Gallery sponsored a solo exhibit of 45 of my paintings in July and August of 2005. I have been one of eight artists from across the state to be invited to show my artwork in the Arkansas State Flower and Garden show in Little Rock the last 3 years. In 2006, eight students and I toured and painted in France. We had an exhibit of our paintings while there.
My originals and prints are included in private collections in many states, as well as 7 foreign countries (Australia, Canada, England, Israel, Italy, Scotland and Switzerland.) My art has been published by two gift companies and distributed nationwide as part of their product line. In addition, a book company has published four inspirational books using my paintings as the cover & text art
With the encouragement and support of my family, I am able to paint on a regular basis. I have painted over 580 paintings since 1996. I teach painting classes in Hiwasse and Bella Vista, AR. Art has truly become a family affair. Bill, my husband, does custom framing (Edgmon Framing). It sure is nice to have that available to me. In addition, he cooks! My son, John, his wife, Karen and our granddaughter, Haley and grandson, Jacob live in Bella Vista, AR.
I am a signature member of Artists of Northwest Arkansas and the Ozark Pastel Society. My paintings can be viewed and purchased on www.susanedgmon.com and at Enigma Gallery in Fayetteville, AR. I have Giclee’ prints (Signed and numbered) available on several of my paintings framed and unframed.

Thank you for showing an interest in my art.
